Days of baseball don't get much better than this.
Saturday at Vanguard University, Westcliff played visitor to the visiting Sea Beggars from Pasadena, and came away with a doubleheader sweep, 19-0 and 23-0.
You read that right.
In the nightcap, the Warriors broke the single-game university record for both runs scored and hits (21).
On the day, the Warriors scored 42 runs on 36 hits.
Over the weekend, Westcliff outscored Providence Christian, 50-1.
In the opening contest, the big knock came courtesy of pinch-hitter Trey Harmon in the top of the sixth.
Harmon tattooed a corner shot to left for a double that cleared the bases, scoring Zane Parmenter, Evan Rocha and Caleb Castanchoa.
At that point, the floodgates were wide open, and the Warriors took advantage.
Daniel Esqueda picked up an RBI single and Ulysses Duran followed up with a slicing two-run double to left.
Duran then scored on a Dillon Kramer single.
All told, the Warriors scored 10 runs on eight hits, and left three on in a marathon sixth.
They followed it up in the seventh with eight more runs.
Duran hit an RBI single, and Ryan Naranjo scored on a wild pitch.
Parmenter added a two-run double that scored Duran and Collin Frarer, and Duran in his second at-bat hit a sizzling grounder for a double to score Eddie Rivero and Quinton Knight.
Meanwhile, Keaton Slack was in top form, pitching six full, allowing just two hits and striking out three.
Slack has consistently given the Warriors quality starts, lasting deep into games with few runs allowed outing after outing, and has arguably become their most reliable starter.
Ben Weller (1 K) worked a flawless seventh to close it out.
Desi Garcia got the call in the nightcap and was equally impressive.
Garcia went five full, allowing just three hits while striking out five.
Julian Tristan struck out the side in the sixth, and Colby Weyant closed it out, adding two more strikeouts to bring the Warriors' total to 10.
The top five hitters in the Westcliff lineup all collected two hits or more, and Esqueda, Duran and Wasson all had three.
Duran finished with four runs batted in and Rivero and Robby Wheeler picked up three each.
Wasson, Harmon, Rocha and Ray Moore Jr all had two runs batted in.
Parmenter, Rivero, Esqueda and Rocha all scored three runs.
Duran, Wasson, Harmon and Moore Jr scored two runs each.
The big inning was the top of the fifth in which Westcliff scored 10 runs on nine hits.
Moore Jr had a two-run single up the middle followed by RBI singles each from Wheeler, Esqueda, Duran, Wasson and Harmon.
Rocha then added the cherry on top, a two-run blast to left.
And just like that, the Warriors now find themselves above .500 at 9-8, and currently atop the Cal Pac at 3-0.
Westcliff will now gear up for a weekend series at Park in Gilbert, AZ., starting Friday.
Then it's back to Irvine for a homestand against Antelope Valley starting Friday, March 17th.
