Women's Soccer extends their win streak against La Sierra

Westcliff Warriors travel down to La Sierra for a non-conference match up. The Match began and from the moment of the kickoff it was all Westcliff.

Warriors controlled every aspect of the game from the tempo, control along with corner kicks and shots on goal. Westcliff were able to test the keeper with a few free kicks outside the 18 yard box.

In the 25th minute from a free kick opportunity saw Jysabella Tolentino with a beautiful shot on goal gave the Warriors the 1-0 lead. Westcliff held La Sierra scoreless. Warriors earn their 3rd straight shutout.

Coaches' Notes

"Our Standout players were our back 3 (Jazlyn Arevalo, Jordyn Gather, Jaida Wilson) and goalkeeper (Kayli Cokley) again were excellent. Another clean sheet. We are a very difficult team to score against and their individual capabilities stand out, but it's partnered with the collective team keeping the ball so well.
 
Jysabella smashed a free kick into the top corner which was a huge stand out moment. An incredible effort that really gets people off their seat.
 
We were so dominant on the ball and in control again. Really comfortable. La Sierra dropped a little deeper and really did a good job and restricting entry into the area which was frustrating in the first half.
 
In the second half they started to press us a little higher and some spaces started to open up. It caught us a little off guard to begin the half to face a higher press but we started to bypass it a little better as it went on and I think we are disappointed we didn't put 2-3 more chances away in the last 15. A couple cleared off the line and a couple we have put over the bar from places we can finish.
 
We are pleased with another win and another clean sheet, but we know there's more in the tank there and we weren't completely at our best.
 
We will recuperate now and regroup for 2 games in 3 days this weekend." - Coach Gidney

Westcliff will be home on saturday Sept 21st at 6:30pm against Justice College at Orange Coast College.
