Di Lonardo Hat Trick Tames Mustangs

Westcliff Warriors hosted The Master's University Mustangs in a non-conference match at the OC Great Park on Friday Night.

The game started off with both teams trying to figure out their rhythm. Warriors were able to break the back and forth with a few corner kicks and shots on goal to test the Mustangs Keeper.

The 1st half of the game had no real pressure applied to either side of the ball. Until the final 5 minutes of the half with a corner kick taken by Jordan Di Lonardo broke the silence giving the Warriors the 1-0 advantage.

Warriors entered halftime in a great spot leading all stats categories with shots on target and corner kicks.

The Warriors came out of halftime on fire. Di Lonardo in the first 2 minutes of the 2nd half grabbed another goal from a free kick about 20 yards away in front of the mustangs net.

The Master's found their rhythm however and were able to take shots and give our keeper Jesse Heredia pressure.

Di Lonardo wasn't the only Warrior to add to the goal counter.

Lennard Schneider in the 64th minute dribbled the ball up the middle taking the shot at the top of the box to the right corner. Warriors were now leading 3-0 in a comfortable spot.

Warriors were not done and were still denying the Mustangs any offensive momentum to keep the score at 0.

In the 73rd minute of the game off of yet another free kick opportunity Jordan Di Lonardo was able to grab another goal to complete the hat trick.

Westcliff secured the shutout and the 1st win of the 2024 season with a 4-0 score against The Master's.

Westcliff Warriors will be back at Orange Coast College on Sept 1st against the University of La Verne kickoff at 5:00pm.
