WU Sinks PUC With a Barrage of Threes
The Westcliff men's basketball team has been one of the hottest teams in the Cal Pac Conference with five wins in a row as they suited up to play Pacific Union.
Well on Thursday night they added to that winning streak as they took down the Pioneers 89-47 to make it six.
The Warriors fell behind to start the game 5-1 before they settled down and completely took over.
Adofo Thomas sunk a three-pointer to take the lead 7-5 and it would be all Warrior basketball from then on.
The shots from beyond the arc were falling for the Warriors who shot 12-26 which is the most threes they've made this season.
Jamal Briscoe scored a game-high 16 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out two assists. Briscoe hit two shots from beyond the arc.
Thomas followed with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. He was perfect from three-point range, 3-3.
Korey Hess scored 12 points while shooting 3-5 from three. Hess also recorded three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Westcliff outrebounded PUC 44-20 with most of them coming from the big men, John Duff and Marius Ntwari. Duff grabbed nine while Ntwari had six rebounds.
With the win, the Warriors have improved to (10-8, Cal Pac 9-4) and have climbed up to third in the conference standings.
It has been a successful couple of weeks for Westcliff who just had a win over the then-undefeated University of Antelope Valley before overwhelming Pacific Union.
They have their eyes on the next target which is moving up in the standings to the No. 2 spot that is currently held by UC Merced.
Up next, the Warriors will play again on Saturday as they take on Cal Maritime for an afternoon game starting at 4:00 PM.
