High Flying Warriors Take Down ERAU
The Westcliff Warriors were trying to get back to .500 basketball in the Cal Pac Conference as they took on the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday.
The Westcliff men's basketball team was trying to get some momentum going and hopefully get a winning streak started as the conference schedule is in full play. And they did just that with an important victory, 62-52.
WU improved to (5-8. Cal Pac 4-4) as they slowly climb up the rankings of the Cal Pac conference.
They were able to hold the Eagles to 30% shooting from the field and just 24% from the three-point line.
Westcliff was very active on the defensive end and was able to get 10 steals which resulted in many fast-break dunks.
This also helped their assists numbers as they had a total of 15 compared to seven by the Eagles.
Jamal Briscoe scored 14 points, grabbed three rebounds, and had three steals.
Justin Boateng had 13 points with three blocks. Boateng knocked down a couple of timely three-pointers for the home team.
John Duff was grabbing on the defensive rebounds as he tallied 13 rebounds to go with his seven points and five blocks.
Westcliff won both halves by single digits but they were motivated to lock down their opponents all game long and it paid off in the end.
With the win, the Warriors are now tied for fifth place in the conference standings as an important two weeks come up for them.
They will be playing many of the teams that are above them in the standings so a nice run right now could propel them and set them up to close the season right.
This coming week they will be on the road as they take on UC Merced, Simpson, and USK.
