The Westcliff men's basketball team traveled to Portland, Oregon for two scheduled games against Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
On Friday the Warriors played Warner Pacific, which was the first meeting between these two teams.
The Warriors started well and took a five-point lead to go up 12-5 after a three-point shot from John Duff.
But Warner Pacific went on an 11-0 run to switch the momentum of the first half.
Westcliff was not able to regain the lead for the remainder of the first half but they stayed within close distance and brought it back down to four points as the teams went into the locker rooms.
In the second half, the teams were trading baskets which didn't help the Warriors since they were down on the scoreboard.
As hard as they tried, the Warriors weren't able to get enough stops and fell 72-67.
Westcliff struggled shooting the ball scoring 26% from the field and 13% from the three-point line.
They shot extremely well from the free throw line making 24-29.
Duff had a team-high 18 points and Justin Boateng followed with 17.
The following day, Westcliff played Multnomah for the first time too.
The Warriors started strong and had an answer for any resistance that their opponent threw at them.
Korey Hess had himself a strong first half scoring eight points and going 2-2 from the three-point line.
Duff already had 10 rebounds at the end of the first half.
The Warriors had their biggest lead at 49-33 and all seemed pointing towards their first win of the season, but Multnomah would not back down.
They went on a 22-6 run and tied up the score 55-55 with five minutes to play in the game.
Turnovers and missed shots hurt the Warriors down the line as they lost 69-63.
Duff finished with a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 18 rebounds.
The team shot 30% from the field and 31% from three.
The Warriors are 0-2 as they are in search of their first win at this early stage of the season.
They will get some time to rest and train before taking on a local rival in Vanguard.
Westcliff will play at Vanguard University next Wednesday, November 22nd, at 7:30 PM.
