The Westcliff baseball team got back on track Friday at the Great Park, picking up a pair of wins, 11-6 in Game 1 and 25-5 in Game 2.
Colby Weyant (1) picked up in the first win in relief, tossing two and a third, allowing one earned on four hits.
Keaton Slack got the start and was solid, going five and two-thirds, scattering 11 and allowing three earned.
Slack finished with five strikeouts.
"Slack did a solid job," Westcliff skipper Dave Shermet said. "Weyant one time through, then the big man, JT (Julian Tristian) pitches two and gets three outs — we like that."
Tristan closed it out by forcing a double play with his first pitch and a fly out to left with his second.
While the defense wasn't picture perfect, it was a marked improvement from Thursday as the Warriors got their mojo back a bit.
Offensively, the bats were definitely on-point.
Caleb Castanchoa (2B) led the way with a 3-for-3 performance, driving in two and scoring two more.
Zane Parmenter had a clutch two-out knock for an RBI single and finished 3-for-3.
Uly Duran was 3-for-5 with an RBI double and scored a pair.
Nolan Wasson was also 3-for-5 with an RBI double and two scored. Wasson finished the game with a nice 5-4-3 double play.
Robby Wheeler blasted a solo shot to left in fifth to make it 6-4.
Westcliff racked up another 15 hits, and it was La Sierra looking sloppy on defense. The Golden Eagles had three errors.
"We got walks, we put the ball in play," Shermet said. "They helped us today a little bit, they made a couple of mistakes, and we kept the pressure on them."
While Shermet was happy with the performance, he did mention afterward that with a few more clutch knocks, the game would be over well before the ninth.
"We feel better though," Shermet said. "We got the win."
Game 2 Recap
The ceaseless onslaught of Warrior bats was back in Game 2 as the Dubs throttled La Sierra, 25-5.
Westcliff picked up 21 hits in the nightcap to bring the day's total to 36.
Duran hit a two-run blast in the first, and Eddie Rivero hit a three-run blast in the third.
Meanwhile, Parmenter was a master of the small-ball, turning in two sacrifice squeezes, both perfectly placed.
Daniel Esqueda singled on a bunt attempt as well, as Shermet took a play or two out of La Sierra's gameplan.
Trey Harmon hit a towering triple to make it 17-4 in the fifth, and a grandiose three-run shot in the sixth to make it 24-4.
Castanchoa followed that blast up with a solo shot of his own to make it 25-4 moments later.
On the bump, Desi Garcia was his usual sterling self, pitching a complete game for the win.
Garcia allowed five runs on six hits, while striking out 10.
