AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Brandon Petersen is a multi-talented content producer, editor, and writer who has helped lead Westcliff Athletics’ social media presence from nothing in 2019, to receiving over two and a half million impressions a year in 2024. Petersen has won content creation awards from the NAIA every year he has been at Westcliff, and has been promoted four times, going from Videographer in summer 2019 to Assistant Athletic Director in charge of Sports Branding at the start of 2024.

Petersen was selected for Westcliff’s RISE leadership program and is currently taking part, while simultaneously working on his master’s in Sports Industry Management online at Georgetown University (3.86 GPA).

A former senior-level drop-out at the University of Washington, Petersen began his career shortly thereafter in sports media as a reporter for the Manteca Bulletin in Northern California. From there, he went on to become the football videographer at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Southern California where he covered the Eagles’ state championship, before moving on to elite-level AAU basketball coverage while working for Rep1 Sports Agency as its NFL combine videographer.

Wanting to finish his education, Petersen went back to school when online options became available in 2014 and finished his bachelor’s degree in film, before receiving two master’s degrees, an MAS in film (3.88 GPA) and an MS in digital audience strategy (4.0 GPA).

Petersen is currently rounding out his education with a degree focused on sports management and leadership, which is where he plans to spend the rest of his career.
